A LITTLE PLACE WITH A LOT OF SOUL

Get to know Imsouane.

A working fishing village in Souss-Massa, tucked between Agadir and Essaouira. Come for the Atlantic; stay for the little things.

Magic Bay

The village’s sheltered curve is known for its long right-hand wave. Watch a session from above, walk the sand when the tide allows, or take a lesson with a local school. The ocean still demands respect on small days.

The working harbour

Blue boats, fishermen and the day’s catch are part of everyday life here, not a staged attraction. Give workers space, ask before photographing people, and agree the weight and cooking price before ordering fish.

Cathedral coast

Across from the bay, the more exposed Atlantic beach has a different energy. Watch stronger surf and enjoy the evening light from established paths. Rocks, swell and changing access make local advice important.

Do a little less

Find a terrace for mint tea, browse the surf shops and leave room for a sunset. For a longer outing, ask a local operator about the Timlaline dunes; protect the landscape and avoid disturbing wildlife.

A village that’s changing

Parts of the seafront were demolished in 2024 and rebuilding continues. Older photos may show places that no longer exist. Confirm beach access, opening hours and accommodation directly before travelling.

GOOD TO KNOW

Small things. Better travels.

Carry some dirhams. Small businesses may be cash-only; do not rely on an ATM in the village.

Dress respectfully away from the beach, ask before portraits, and support local businesses.

The Atlantic is not a pool. Check currents and swell with a qualified local instructor; never assume a beach is safe to swim.

Bring sun protection, a refillable water bottle and a warm layer for breezy evenings. Take your rubbish home.
